About
Anima Thai Massage is a traditional Thai massage shop in Chiang Mai's old city, a few minutes' walk from Tha Phae Gate.
The shop isn't big, but there's a lot on the menu — Thai, foot, oil, hot oil, sports and aromatherapy massage, plus Thai herbal compress and Northern Thailand's Tok Sen wooden-hammer massage.
There's no single routine here. Your therapist checks where you're tight and how much pressure suits you that day, then adjusts accordingly.
We're in a lane off Moon Muang Road, in Chiang Mai's Old City — stop by if you're passing through, or just walk in.

Good to know
How much is a Thai massage in Chiang Mai's old city?
A 60-minute traditional Thai massage is ฿300; 90 minutes is ฿450, and two hours is ฿600. A foot massage is the same. Oil and herbal-compress treatments start a little higher. The full price list is on our Services page.
Where are you, and what's nearby?
We're at 8/1 Moon Muang Road Lane 6, Si Phum, inside Chiang Mai's old city, a few minutes' walk from Tha Phae Gate. Turn off Moon Muang Road into the lane; we're a small shop, not a big spa.
What are your opening hours?
We're open every day, 11:00 to 22:00. If you'd like a longer session, such as a two-hour massage, it's best to come earlier in the day. In the last hour before closing, whether we can still start one depends on how busy the therapists are, so drop by or message us on LINE and we'll let you know.
Do I need to book, or can I just walk in?
Walk-ins are welcome. Most guests simply drop by. If you're coming as a group or want a particular time, a quick call or LINE message ahead lets us hold a bed for you.
What's the difference between Thai, oil, and foot massage?
Thai massage is done on a dedicated massage bed, in loose clothes we provide. It's slow stretches and pressure along the body's energy lines, with no oil. Oil massage is on a bed too, with smooth massage oil, for a gentler, flowing feel. Foot massage works the feet and lower legs with reflexology-style pressure. It's an old craft: Nuad Thai grew out of Thailand's temple and folk-healing traditions, and in 2019 UNESCO added it to its Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
I've never had a massage. Will it hurt? Can you adjust the pressure?
You're in control of the pressure. Tell your therapist how firm you'd like it at the start, and say so any time during the session — lighter or stronger is no trouble. Styles do differ in how deep they go: oil and aromatherapy massage are gentler by design, while Thai and sports massage work deeper into knots. Tell us what you're after and we'll point you to the right one. If it's your first time, a Thai massage or a foot massage is an easy place to start.
